Rawai sits at the southern tip, near Nai Harn and Ya Nui. For a beach base a little to the north, you can also look at our apartments in Kata and apartments in Karon.
Not really, and it is better to know before you book. Rawai is a working bay — longtail boats moor along it, the shore is rocky and the water shallow and murky at low tide.
Nai Harn, about 2 km west, is the swimming beach and one of the best in southern Phuket. People stay in Rawai for the food and the boats, and swim at Nai Harn.
Every building we list here has a shared pool, and most have a gym as well — which matters more in Rawai than elsewhere, given the beach itself is not for swimming.
The listing confirms it for each.
It suits people who want to stay somewhere real rather than somewhere built for holidays. It has the island’s best seafood, the pier for island trips, and a large resident community, so prices and daily life feel more local.
If your holiday is mainly about lying on a beach, the west coast suits you better.
The seafood market is the reason most people come — you buy fish, prawns or crab from the stalls and the restaurants across the road cook it for you.
Promthep Cape, the classic sunset point, is a few kilometres south, and the Big Buddha sits on the hill above.
Rawai pier is the departure point. Longtails run to Coral Island in about thirty minutes, and speedboats to the Racha Islands in about forty.
Being able to walk to the pier is one of the real advantages of staying here.
The airport is about 46 km away, roughly an hour by road — the longest transfer of the areas we cover. Patong is around 40 minutes north.
Rawai sits at the southern tip of the island, which is exactly why it is quiet.
Some have one in the unit and the listing states it — use the Private Washing Machine filter if it matters.
Others have a shared laundry, and laundry shops are easy to find in Rawai.
It is one of the best areas on the island for it. There is a genuine year-round community, a proper supermarket run, cheaper everyday prices than the resort beaches, and enough going on that a month does not drag.
A kitchen and a pool cover most of what you need.
Yes, or you will be ordering taxis daily. Rawai spreads out along the coast road and the good parts — Nai Harn, Promthep, the market, Chalong — are all a few kilometres apart.
Grab works, but transport of your own makes far more sense here than in a walkable village.
Getting there, getting around, the water and what is near it.
The southern tip of the island, past Chalong.
The longest transfer of the areas we cover — which is exactly why Rawai stays quiet.
Spread out along the coast road. Transport of your own makes a real difference.
Grab works, but the good parts of Rawai sit several kilometres apart, so a car or scooter earns its keep here.
A working bay rather than a swimming beach — worth knowing before you book.
The best seafood on the island, and the classic sunset point.
At the seafood market you buy from the stalls and the restaurants across the road cook it for you — the reason most people come to Rawai in the first place.
