Laguna Beach Holiday Rentals in Cherngtalay

Cherngtalay is the district around Laguna Phuket on the island’s northwest coast. Laguna’s resorts, lagoons and golf course sit at its heart, and Boat Avenue and Porto de Phuket supply the restaurants, cafes and supermarkets. Laguna Beach, the stretch of sand in front of the resorts, is part of Bang Tao Beach.

Our holiday rentals here are apartments and pool villas. Choosing vacation rentals near Laguna gives you more room than a hotel, a proper kitchen and your own hours. It suits longer stays too, because groceries, a gym session or a good dinner are rarely more than a few minutes away.

Apartments suit couples, friends and anyone staying longer. Many share a communal pool and a gym, have their own washing machine, and some look out to sea. They make a comfortable, low-effort base to come back to in the evening.

Pool villas suit families and groups. A private pool, a barbecue area and room to eat together make evenings at home easy, and some villas offer maid service. Several homes sit within easy reach of Laguna Golf Phuket.

Holiday Rentals Near Cherngtalay

  • West, Bang Tao and Surin (5 to 10 minutes): for beach life, beach clubs, sunsets and beachfront dining. Stay there if you would rather walk straight onto the sand each morning.
  • North, Nai Thon (15 to 20 minutes): a small, quiet bay backed by green hills, with a few beach restaurants and very little nightlife.
  • North, Nai Yang (20 to 25 minutes): a relaxed beach inside Sirinat National Park and the closest beach area to the airport, handy for early flights.
  • South, Kamala (15 to 20 minutes): a village-style bay with a gentle beach and local eateries, slower than Patong.
  • South, Patong (about 30 minutes): Phuket’s liveliest resort town, with Bangla Road and nightlife until late.
  • East, Phuket Town (about 40 minutes): Sino-Portuguese shophouses, the Sunday walking street on Thalang Road and the Naka weekend market. A rewarding day trip.

Staying in Cherngtalay

Cherngtalay is a practical, comfortable base. Boat Avenue and Porto de Phuket put supermarkets, pharmacies, cafes, yoga studios and well-known restaurants a short drive from most homes, and the Friday market brings everyone out once a week. You can shop, eat out and run errands without going to Phuket Town.

Laguna Phuket adds a resort feel: lagoons, shaded paths, Laguna Golf Phuket and the beach in front of the hotels. Blue Tree, with padel courts, a skate park and a children’s adventure park, fills the days off the sand.

Families like the space and calm evenings. Long-stay guests and remote workers like the cafes, gyms and reliable everyday services, with international schools within reach. Golfers like having an 18-hole course a few minutes away.

Most homes sit a short drive from the sand rather than on it, so you will want a car, a scooter or a ride-hailing app. Nightlife is relaxed; if you want Patong’s energy every night, stay further south.

Things to Do in Cherngtalay

  • Laguna Phuket: a cluster of resorts set around a chain of lagoons, with shaded walking and cycling paths and a lagoon boat and shuttle for hotel guests.
  • Laguna Golf Phuket: an 18-hole, par 71 course laid out around lagoons and coconut groves, named Thailand’s best golf course at the 2019 World Golf Awards.
  • Fun Friday market at Boat Avenue: every Friday from about 4pm to 9pm, with street food, clothes and craft stalls. Arrive around 5.30pm, as parking fills by about 7pm; park at Porto de Phuket and walk over, or take a Grab or Bolt instead of driving in.
  • Porto de Phuket: an open-air lifestyle mall with a food hall, cafes, restaurants and shops, easy to combine with Boat Avenue for an evening out.
  • Blue Tree: the former water park is now a lifestyle hub with padel courts, a skate park, a children’s adventure park and shaded jogging trails.
  • Wat Cherngtalay: the district’s main temple on Srisoonthorn Road, with a lotus-shaped pagoda. Cover shoulders and knees.
  • Laguna Beach: the quiet stretch of sand in front of the Laguna resorts, a few minutes from most homes. For swimming seasons, beach clubs and beachfront dining, see our Bang Tao & Surin guide.
  • Run or race at Laguna: the Laguna Phuket Marathon is held in June and the Laguna Phuket Triathlon, one of Asia’s longest-running, in November.

  • Mrs B Bar & Table: wood-fire cooking and cocktails on Lagoon Road near Boat Avenue, with a separate bar yard. Book ahead, as it fills quickly.

Best Time to Visit Cherngtalay

The dry season from November to April is the classic time to visit, with calm seas and long sunny days. December to February are the busiest months, especially around Christmas, New Year and Chinese New Year, so book early if your dates are fixed. March and April are hotter, with fewer crowds and the golf course at its best early in the day.

From May to October the southwest monsoon brings rain in short, heavy bursts and the island turns green. It is a good season for golf, Blue Tree and long lunches at Boat Avenue, and homes are easier to find. The marathon weekend in June and the triathlon in November fill Laguna quickly, so plan ahead if your dates overlap.

Getting to Cherngtalay

Cherngtalay is one of the easiest areas to reach from Phuket International Airport, about 25 to 35 minutes by car. Bang Tao Beach is a few minutes away, Patong around 30 minutes and Phuket Town about 40 minutes. Parking at Boat Avenue and Porto de Phuket is easy, except on Friday evenings, when Porto’s car park is the best place to leave a car.

Get around by car, scooter if you are confident riding one, or ride-hailing apps such as Grab and Bolt. Pavements are patchy and traffic can be busy, so evenings out are easier by car. We can arrange an airport transfer so a driver meets you when you land.
