Villas and condos in Phuket work quite differently. Villas sit mostly on the west and north sides of the island, often on hillsides or near the quieter beaches, and usually come with a private pool, daily housekeeping, and space for a group, with a chef or airport transfers available on request. Condos cluster in busier spots like Patong, Kamala, and Phuket Town, so they are within walking distance of shops and restaurants, but they share the building's pool and facilities.
Which one fits you comes down to your group size and your budget. A private pool villa suits families and groups who want space, privacy and a quiet base. A condo works well for couples and smaller trips that want to stay close to the shops, cafes and beach clubs. Both come with a full kitchen, which makes them easier than a hotel for a longer holiday. In Phuket, travel time matters as much as the beach, because the island is bigger than it looks and the roads are slow. The airport sits in the north. Bang Tao, Layan and Surin are about 20 to 30 minutes away and are home to many of the best villas and beach clubs. Patong, the nightlife hub, is around 45 minutes away and stays busy. Kamala next door is calmer and good for families. Kata and Karon in the southwest have the easiest beaches for a first visit, roughly 45 to 60 minutes out. Rawai and Nai Harn in the far south feel the most local and suit longer stays.
It also helps to picture the kind of trip you want before you choose. Couples often go for Kata, Kamala or Surin for easy beaches and good food close by. Families tend to pick Bang Tao or Nai Harn, where the pace is slower and there is more room to relax. If you want to explore the whole island, a base on the west coast keeps your drive times short. Once you know the area, we can match you to a villa or condo that fits your dates, your group and the way you like to travel.
Most guests hire a car or book a private driver for the week. The roads between the west coast beaches are fine, but the hills around Kamala and Patong are steep, so a small scooter is not the easiest way to move a family and luggage. Taxi apps work well in Patong, Kata and Phuket Town, and they thin out in the far south and the north.
If you would rather not drive at all, pick a condo in a walkable spot like Patong, Kamala or Phuket Town, where the beach, the shops and dinner are all within a few minutes. We arrange airport transfers and day drivers for any property, so tell us your plan and we will set it up before you land.
Most villas and condominiums take bookings from a few nights, and minimum stays are common over the December and January peak. A week is enough to settle into one part of the island. Two weeks gives you time for the south, the east coast and a day or two on the nearby islands.
Staying a month or longer usually costs a lot less per night, and many of our condos are set up for it with a full kitchen, fast internet and a proper desk. Tell us your dates and we will show you what fits.
